Ethos and Vision

After visiting Naoshima and Teshima in 2022, we were, like most, utterly enchanted. The fairytale images of the islands and the quaintness of the post-industrial port town of Uno captured our imaginations and we began to dream of how we could spend more time here.

After a year of searching, we found our perfect house and the Sadou Inn was born.

Here at the Sadou Inn, we nurture the concept of returning to a time of slow travel, meeting other travelers and locals, and making friends and new connections on your journey.

The Sadou Inn is a place where locals have a space to socialize. With monthly events and activities, our foreign guests have the opportunity to meet members of our community and participate in local crafts and festivities either at the Inn or nearby.

We aim to continue the inspiration of the art islands within the ryokan, with a budding collection of Japanese art and crafts, as well as providing a space to feature local artists and curate some high-quality gifts and souvenirs from the region.

The extension of our guesthouse are the future artist residencies and workshops with local and international artists. Inquiries welcome!
